Adelines Baby Blessing:) 6.9.13

Adelines Blessing went good! This is our 3rd baby that didn't cry for daddy! She was cranky after. I love baby blessings. It is such a great experience each time. & as each blessing has been said we truly see what Heavenly Father wants for each one of them. What he knows about them, since they did just come from him. We have realized that these blessings are the beginning of many more to come for them but this one is so special since they are still so little, & we get to get a little help from hearing these blessing & hearing what we need to to do to help them progress, to help them become who they need to become. Adelines blessing was so special, she is a special spirit who also has divine qualities, she will have her own stuggles & temptations in this life & we will try our hardest to help her & her siblings realize there potential & whose they are. I'm always in awe with how special these children are. We are so blessed. I feel overwhelmed with gratitude each day(after Emma's big fit of the day:) for these children. I'm so grateful for a husband who stays worthy of the priesthood to give them blessings. Life is good.

Obviously our children got the goofiness from somewhere:)
I can hardly get pictures from these kiddos or a smile, Emma was either sleeping or cranky when I took these cuz she does not usually like her picture taken:(

Adeline Mae Rooney

I'm finally getting to Adelines Birth Story!
So I was having Braxtons Hicks for months before she came. I never had those with Logan & Emma so that was a new thing. So I thought she was coming sooner. But as the "due date" came closer & closer I was getting ansy. Logan was 3 day before his "due date" & Emma was 6 so in my mind I thought she would come even earlier. So lesson to self...due dates mess with your head & each baby is different & we knew this date was a little off. So crazy enough with all my thinking I hit my 40 wk appt. then my 41 wk. The midwifes did the non stress test & Amniotic Fluid test. stress test went well.well not many real contractions to read but she was fine. Now the fluid test you should be at least an 8, which like many of those tests like the baby weight ultrasound it can be off some give or take. 15 is great. Well I was at a 4. So I knew it was time to get  her coming. When my midwife came in I was bawling. I had never been induced & it was a different way then I had ever wanted so I was nervous & scared. But she said I was ok to wait till morning. which was nice so we could take the kids to grandma & Jesse & I got to make sure the bags were for sure ready & get the house super clean. yeah for me to not worry about the house!
Jesse & I were gonna watch a movie but by the time we were done cleaning sleep was more important. So went to bed & I slept for maybe an hour when real pressure waves started!! Woohoo! I was waiting for those & was wondering why I was not having those yet but Adeline was just waiting for the right time:) So I didn't sleep much since they started coming every hour. So when the alarm went off I got ready to call at 530am. bright & early! Since it was an actual medical induction I got priority. So I was ready & Jesse was getting ready so I was telling him to hurry up! haha dont mess with the pregnant lady! They told me to come right in. This was it! It was so weird to set a time to have my baby..
So we got set up, talked to the nurse(which we loved her & she was so great when I told her I was going natural again & I wanted the least amount of interruptions as possible so I could focus & Jesse could be there for me. She was awesome! loved her! so patient, nice & just asking how I was doing. So the cool thing was I was dilated to a 3 at my appt the day before & when I got to the hospital I was a 6! Woohoo! I had made progress overnight so I hoped that meant the induction would not be too long & I would progress well.  That dilation # also messed with my head showing that labor can start anytime no matter what your dilated at. So they gave me Pitocin at 830 am. They said once my pressure waves were getting closer & more consistent I could take the belly band off & the pitocin machine so I could be more mobile. luckily I could unhook to go the bathroom! But I felt like an old granny carrying around the bar hooked to the pitocin stuff. haha! So it started off well, the pressure waves I believe(jesse would remember better) started coming every 2-3min by 10 ish? This progression was a lot harder for me since a clock was there & the machine measuring the contractions. Its a lot easier not worrying about when the next one is gonna come & not having a clock there wondering when the baby is gonna come every hour. its much easier to not worry about time too much.. So I was feeling ansy trying to concentrate with a clock there but I tried to ignore it as much as possible.
So when the pressure waves started getting closer as Jesse was timing them they called my midwife to get over & check me. When she got there she checked me & I was fully dilated, fully effaced. I had felt some pressure but had not felt the need to push yet. I felt like she was almost there but wasn't sure. My water had not broken yet but I had felt a little bit of fluid come out so that was weird because I never had a gush of fluid. So I finally got to get off all the machines. I started pushing & continued to slowly push at first when in no time I felt like my body completely took over & was forcing me to push her out. Contractions weren't really there anymore because she was just ready to come out! So in I don't know maybe 10 pushes she came out. The first few pushes weren't really much because she wasn't quite ready but it felt good to do a few to help get her out. I was so thrilled to finally get her out! But my excitement stalled for a moment when her shoulder got stuck but no worries, one more push & she was out!
My midwife,Helene was so amazing, she helped to give words of encouragement & when I was pushing she asked me if I would want to get up on the bed & lean over the ball to help me hold onto something. So I hugged it hard & held Jesses hand pretty hard I think(I wonder what he would say:)
So finally Miss Adeline Mae Rooney was born. What a amazing feeling, for the 3rd time to bring a child of God into the world. What a feeling of relief that no matter how hard it is, once all is said & done it seems like it was nothing.
But crazy thing was when she came out her umbilical cord was seriously so short that I could not hold her right away on my chest.(It was maybe 3 ft. long) So we let it pulse for a minute while Helene held her then cut the cord & then I was able to hold her. She was pretty blue so I held her while they checked her oxygen, then they took her to the table because her oxygen was not great & she was not breathing well. As they examined her it looked like she had hit her forehead & nose on my pelvic bone on the way out & her nose was crooked for almost a wk. Sorry poor thing! So I did get to nurse her pretty soon & they continued to check her oxygen to see if she could eat & keep her oxygen levels & breathing up. She continued to be up & down so to be safe they took her to the NICU. This was the hardest thing to see my baby girl in there all covered with cords, we hardly got many pictures after the birth because so much was happening to make sure she was ok. Even though it was only 2 days in the NICU(I can't imagine those who have to go months) it was the hardest thing to see her in there, to not have here in my room, & to have to visit her. I was so grateful that I continued to nurse or pump milk. I did get a lot more sleep then I did with my other 2 in my first few days since I could feed her then leave to sleep.
So luckily after tons of tests, antibiotics & all the things they do to check her & rule out any possibilities of what happened each day she got better, more cords & needles came off & she came into my room friday night. I was so excited I was crying! The nurses in the NICU are AMAZING & the nurse that kept the updates Friday really helped to get her back to me. She realized that when Adi was all well she really needed to be with mommy, having missed that time & wanting to nurse more. I was so grateful to her & her intuition. Those women are truly amazing in there & really watch over these babies. So yup I didn't sleep much once she was in my room but she loved to feed, then she would cuddle up at the bottom of my belly. She did not want to sleep in the crib, every time I tried to lay her down she was ticked & wide awake. So on my belly it was & I loved it! My little cuddle bug.
So we finally got home sat night. This time I actually didn't mind staying in the hospital longer even though I'd rather be home. But this time I wanted to stay with Adi all the time, plus after I had her my uterus would not contract & i was holding Adi & they were pounding my belly to get it to contract so I would stop bleeding so I lost about 400 ml before it stopped so the food in the hospital was really nice to have full, healthy meals to get my energy back up after losing that blood. That was no fun to not have the energy like I did with the other 2. But it was good to get home & here are Adi's stats & pics of the cutest baby!
